New CASE D-Series Mini Excavators: The Right Machine for Every Job
CASE Construction Equipment has developed its D-Series mini excavator range to give contractors more choice, more versatility and the right-sized machine for virtually every application.
From the ultra-compact CASE CX12D through to the powerful CX50D, the D-Series provides a comprehensive range of mini excavators designed for today’s demanding construction, groundworks, landscaping, utility and infrastructure applications.
At Jim Macadam Equipment, we are delighted to offer the latest CASE D-Series mini excavators to customers throughout Ireland.
The five models particularly suited to a wide range of Irish applications are the CX12D, CX17D, CX19D, CX30D and CX50D.
A CASE mini excavator for every application
The D-Series range has been developed around a simple principle: give contractors the right machine for the job.
CASE’s European D-Series range spans from approximately 1 tonne through to 6 tonnes, allowing operators to select a machine based on access restrictions, transport requirements, digging performance, lifting requirements and the type of work being undertaken.
This makes the range particularly well suited to the diverse requirements of the Irish construction market, where contractors can find themselves working on everything from residential extensions and landscaping projects to utility work, road construction, commercial developments and larger groundworks projects.
The D-Series combines compact dimensions, manoeuvrability, hydraulic performance, operator-focused controls and attachment versatility, helping contractors get more from a single machine. CASE also offers a broad selection of mechanical and hydraulic quick couplers and attachments across the range.
CASE CX12D – Compact size, serious capability

At the smallest end of our featured range is the CASE CX12D.
With an operating weight of approximately 1,305 kg with roll-bar, the CX12D is designed for jobs where access and transportability are critical. Its compact dimensions make it particularly suitable for working around houses, gardens, narrow entrances, utility projects and other restricted-access locations.
The CX12D is powered by a Kubota D722 Stage V engine producing up to 11.8 hp, while its standard equipment includes electro-hydraulic proportional controls, an auxiliary hydraulic circuit, two-speed travel and an extendable undercarriage. It offers a maximum digging depth of approximately 1.86 metres.
For contractors who need a genuine mini excavator that can get into places larger machines simply cannot, the CX12D provides a highly transportable and practical solution.
CX12D highlights
- Approx. 1,305 kg operating weight
- 11.8 hp Kubota Stage V engine
- Approx. 1,860 mm digging depth
- Extendable undercarriage
- Two-speed travel
- Auxiliary hydraulics
- Electro-hydraulic proportional controls
- Compact footprint for restricted-access work
CASE CX17D – The compact 1.7-tonne class
Moving up the range, the CASE CX17D provides contractors with additional digging performance while retaining the compact footprint that makes a mini excavator so useful.
The CX17D has an operating weight of approximately 1,690 kg in canopy specification or 1,800 kg with cab, with a Yanmar 3TNV70 Stage V engine producing up to 16.1 hp. Maximum digging depth is approximately 2,020 mm.
The CX17D is particularly well suited to contractors looking for a versatile machine that remains easy to transport and manoeuvre while providing a step up in performance from the smallest mini excavators.
It features an extendable undercarriage, two-speed travel, auxiliary hydraulics and CASE’s compact D-Series design.
CASE CX19D – A popular size for busy worksites

The CASE CX19D takes the concept further, providing more digging performance while remaining extremely compact.
With an operating weight of approximately 1,880 kg in canopy configuration and 1,990 kg with cab, the CX19D is powered by a Yanmar 3TNV76 Stage V engine producing 18.4 hp.
The machine offers approximately 2,280 mm digging depth in the standard specification, while CASE highlights its suitability for busy urban and infrastructure sites where space is restricted and other equipment may be operating nearby.
For Irish groundworkers, landscapers, utility contractors and general building contractors, the CX19D offers an attractive balance between transportability, digging performance and manoeuvrability.
Why the CX19D stands out
The CX19D is particularly useful where contractors need more capability than a 1.5-tonne machine but don’t want to move into a significantly larger excavator.
Its compact design allows operators to work close to buildings, walls and other obstacles, while its auxiliary hydraulic capability makes it suitable for a wide range of attachments.
CASE CX30D – 3-tonne performance in a compact package

The CASE CX30D represents a significant step up in capability.
With an operating weight of approximately 3,240 kg in cab specification, the CX30D is powered by a Kubota D1703-M engine producing 24.4 hp.
This machine has been designed to combine the productivity expected from a larger mini excavator with the manoeuvrability required on confined jobsites.
The CX30D features zero-tail swing, a load-sensing hydraulic system with flow-sharing technology and electro-hydraulic joystick controls. CASE states that the machine can achieve a maximum digging depth of up to approximately 2.83 metres, depending on specification.
This makes the CX30D an excellent option for:
- Groundworks
- Utility installation
- Drainage
- Landscaping
- House building
- Site preparation
- Road and infrastructure work
- General construction
The combination of compact dimensions, hydraulic performance and attachment versatility makes the CX30D a particularly useful machine for contractors who need one excavator capable of taking on a broad range of jobs.
CASE CX50D – 5-tonne power with zero-tail-swing versatility

At the top end of our featured D-Series models is the CASE CX50D.
This 5-tonne-class machine has an operating weight of approximately 4,950 kg and is powered by a Kubota V2403-CR-T Stage V engine producing up to 57.1 hp.
It provides a digging depth of approximately 3,330 mm, with the cab version capable of up to approximately 3,580 mm depending on configuration.
Despite its larger size, the CX50D retains the zero-tail-swing design found across the D-Series, allowing operators to work effectively in confined areas and close to buildings and other structures.
The CX50D also brings a high level of hydraulic and attachment flexibility. It can be equipped with up to three auxiliary circuits, while features such as electro-hydraulic controls, flow settings, load-sensing hydraulics and hydraulic quick-coupler options allow the machine to be configured for a wide range of applications.
For larger groundworks contractors, utilities, infrastructure companies and general construction businesses, the CX50D provides the digging power and versatility of a larger machine while retaining the manoeuvrability advantages of a compact excavator.
Designed around the operator
Across the D-Series, CASE has placed considerable emphasis on making the machines practical and straightforward to operate.
Depending on model and specification, features include electro-hydraulic proportional controls, auxiliary hydraulic circuits, two-speed travel, automatic travel functions, modern operator environments and CASE SiteWatch and SiteConnect connectivity.
The objective is simple: make the machine easier to operate, easier to configure for different attachments and easier to maintain, helping contractors maximise machine utilisation and productivity.
One machine, multiple applications
One of the biggest advantages of choosing a modern CASE mini excavator is the ability to turn the machine into a versatile attachment carrier.
Depending on the model and specification, CASE offers hydraulic and mechanical quick couplers along with a wide range of buckets and other attachments.
That means a contractor can use the same excavator for digging, trenching, grading, drainage, landscaping, breaking, site preparation and material handling, rather than purchasing a separate machine for every application.
For smaller contractors in particular, this versatility can make a significant difference to machine utilisation and return on investment.
Why choose CASE D-Series?
The CASE D-Series brings together the features that contractors increasingly demand from modern mini excavators:
Compact and manoeuvrable – designed to work effectively in restricted spaces.
Powerful and productive – strong digging and hydraulic performance for the machine’s size.
Versatile – compatible with a wide range of attachments and quick couplers.
Easy to transport – smaller models are particularly suited to contractors who need to move machines regularly between jobs.
Operator focused – intuitive controls and practical machine layouts.
Built for real-world construction – designed around the demands of groundworks, utilities, landscaping, construction and infrastructure.
