THUMBS UP FOR CASE CX210B EXCAVATOR FROM IRISH OPERATORS

Contractors and operators throughout Ireland cannot say enough about the CASE CX210B excavator.  Launched early in 2007, CASE said that it would completely change people’s idea of what an excavator should be.  Although it features a 4-cylinder engine, because of the Tier III engine advanced technology, CASE completely redesigned the hydraulics and transmission to maximise available power.
The result is a more powerful machine with more torque, significantly less noise, easier, faster servicing and a massive saving in fuel – up to 20% has been reported.  Customers are confirming the launch statement from CASE – “The CX210B - just when you thought excavators could not get any better.”
Leading ground contractor, Finnerty Plant Hire, with over 120 employees and a fleet of CASE machines is very impressed with the new CX210B machine performance.  The operator, James Kelly said “I was very surprised for although it is a 4 cylinder engine, there is definitely more power, a lot more bite in the dig and it is very light on fuel.
“It uses at least 20% less fuel. The fuel tank on the previous model held 285-liters, which lasted a day and a half.  The CX210B has a 410-liter tank, which lasts for at least 3 and a half days.  That’s a lot more hours per gallon.”
Hard at work on a large 70 acre housing project in Athlone, James Kelly also said “It is so quiet sometimes you wonder if it is still on.  I like the controls.  The cab is very comfortable.  Visibility is excellent.  I can't fault the machine.“

First Machine in Ireland Proves Point
Brian Conneely Civil Engineering took delivery of the very first CASE CX210B in January 2007.  With ongoing work on the upgrading of the Western Rail corridor, which includes road closure during widening of up to 15 bridges a year, the company has to have machines that are reliable and more than up to the task.
With over 3,000 hours now on the machine, company owner, Brian Conneely, says, “I can’t believe the fuel consumption.  The machine is so miserly but without loss of power or productivity.  We have used the CX210B extensively throughout the year without any problems.”
The operator, John McEndrick said,  “Working in tight quarters is very easy because it is very easy to control.  It has the digging bite to handle tough ground conditions and it responds very well to the controls.  You cannot fault the visibility and it is so quiet.”
The company runs a fleet of CASE excavators of various sizes, which are deployed on projects throughout Ireland.
Owner-Operators Impressed
If any operator is qualified to comment on excavators, it must surely be Gordon Condell who has been operating excavators on a daily basis for over 40 years.  Now an owner-operator, he has been using a CASE CX210B on a major housing project in Wicklow since May.
“I get paid by the day so take notice of my machine costs.  I’ve been on this project now for the past 2 years or so and have another 2 years to go.  The ground is very hard – mostly rock – so I have to often switch between a hammer and bucket.  The machine does not complain.  It can handle both very easily.  The most impressive feature must be the fuel consumption. And with the price of fuel these days, that is a big saving.   I’ve had no servicing costs since taking delivery of the machine.  It is very reliable.
“On large sites such as this one where I have to travel from one location to another, the travel speed is impressive and it is a beautiful machine to operator – quiet, good control layout and comfortable.  After just 6 months, I am very impressed.”
Darren McAdam, sales director for CASE construction equipment distributor, Jim Macadam Sales Ltd, says, “There is no question about it, the CASE CX210B has got a lot of people talking.  At first they do not believe that a 4-cylinder engine can deliver more power and more torque than a 6-cylinder.  They then think I am joking when I talk about the significant fuel saving the machine delivers.  But Ireland is a small country and plant operators talk to each other, so word is getting round.  We are winning customers as they are now beginning to realise that the CX210B is a very exceptional machine.”

I would like to invite comments from any Case CX210B user.

Regards

Darren McAdam
